Outlook 2003 Setup

This document details the procedure for setting up a new email account in Microsoft Outlook 2003.

In Outlook 2003, click on the "tools" menu and select "E-mail Accounts..."

Select "Add a new e-mail account" and click "next."

You will be prompted to specify the type of mail server you use. Select POP3 and click "next."

You will be prompted to provide your account information. The incoming mail server is mail.smgazette.com and the outgoing is smtp.smgazette.com.

You can access more account settings by clicking the "More Settings..." button.

Under the "General" tab, you can specify your reply address.

Under the "Outgoing Server" tab enable SMTP authentication.

Under the "Advanced" tab, you can set Outlook 2003 to retain your messages on our server for a number of days even after you have retreived them. This is normally not necessary or even desirable, but in some circumstances (especially if you check your mail from multiple computers) this may be exactly what you will want to do.

After reviewing all of your settings, click "ok" to return to the email settings window. Click "next." Outlook 2003 will display a window indicating that you have completed the account setup process. Click "finish" to exit the new-account wizard.
